The theme of the show was 'Summer Scenes' and featured three collections: Nautical Nuances, Garden Garb, and Wave Wear. A raffle was held for the sponsors' products and guests entered the show in true red carpet style by posing for pictures at Element's step and repeat.
We interviewed FIDM Fashion Club President Taylor Olson for the behind the scenes scoop...
FC: What were your goals with this event?
Taylor: Our goals for this event were to get the school and community together for a night of fashion and fun and to showcase the styling and event production abilities of our club members. Our other goal was to raise funds for the non-profit youth based organization Elemental Awareness by donating a portion of the proceeds from the show to the charity.
FC: What steps did you take to make this happen?
Taylor: We worked hard to secure a brand for the show and could not have been happier with Element. They were very supportive through the whole process. The girls in the club put a lot of work into the show- casting the models, creating flyers and programs and distributing them around town, putting outfits together for the models to wear. Then there was all of the work that went on the day of the show from doing makeup and dressing models to figuring out how to make our short runway showcase the clothes to the best of it's ability.
FC: What tips do you have for other FIDM Fashion Club presidents who are interested in putting together an event like yours?Taylor: The best advice I can give to other club presidents looking to put on a fashion show like ours is to never give up! Even if you can't find a brand at first or you have no idea where to start the planning of the event, it will all work out in the end. We came across a lot of bumps in the road while planning our show. However, with some creative thinking, a lot of hard work, and the support of the community and club, we were able to put on a show that exceeded all of our expectations! Don't be afraid to ask for help from the community either, it will shock you who is willing to get involved. Lastly, make a well structured plan for the show, but don't be afraid to totally disregard it if things don't go as planned.
